Bucks County authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

The death at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown Township happened early Monday morning, according to a statement from the county.

The inmate was a man in his mid-40s, but his name was not released, county officials said.

The inmate was found unresponsive in his cell early in the morning and responding Corrections staff began lifesaving measures, officials said.

County prison officials have notified the man’s next of kin.

The probe into the man’s death is being handled by the Bucks County Detectives and the Bucks County Department of Corrections Investigations Unit.

There were two inmate deaths earlier this year, and one last month. However, details on that have not been released.

Bucks County has reported seven inmate suicides, one homicide, and eight medical-related or accidental deaths at the correctional facility, according to Pennsylvania Department of Correction’s extraordinary occurrence statistics and this news organization’s tally dating back to 2015. The numbers don’t include the two most recent deaths.

As of September, the county correctional facility reported having 703 inmates in-house and 139 in community corrections, according to county data.
