Congressman: New Foreign Aid, Border Bills Being Worked On

Amid heavy partisan debate in Washington D.C. over immigration and funding to allies, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick told reporters on Wednesday a bipartisan border security bill and foreign aid supplemental bill are being worked on.

Ken Tran, a reporter for USA Today, posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Fitzpatrick said the foreign aid supplemental bill will be revealed in a “few days.”

The GOP congressman said that the bills are different than the bipartisan one introduced in the U.S. Senate that House Speaker Mike Johnson has already indicated will not move forward, according to Washington Examiner reporter Cami Mondeaux.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick says there is an effort to draft a separate Ukraine/Israel/border bill that would replace Senate bill that Speaker Johnson has already called dead on arrival.

Politico reported that one bill will tackle support for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan and another will be focused on the issues at the border.

“Stay tuned in the next 24 hours, I think you’ll see something that I think will be bipartisan,” he said, according to the publication.

Fitzpatrick’s office didn’t respond to a request for comment or details on the bill from this news organization. Two requests for an interview with Fitzpatrick were not returned.

In the statement posted to his website last week, Fitzpatrick, a supporter of continued military aid of Ukraine and increased security at the border, said “lawmakers must rise above partisan gamesmanship and come together to solve problems for the American people, when presented with the opportunity.”
