A dental examination has confirmed the identity of a man found dead inside a burning vehicle last week, officials said Friday.

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office identified the man as John Motyka, 74, of Morrisville Borough.

Coroner Patti Campi said that while the man’s identity has been determined through dental records, the cause of his death was still under investigation.

The grim discovery was made after the Lower Makefield Township Police and the Yardley-Makefield Fire Company responded to a late night report of a brush fire at St. Ignatius Cemetery, which is next to Macclesfield Park on River Road, last Thursday.

At the scene, it was found that there was a vehicle fire at the rear of the cemetery.

Upon extinguishing the flames, crews found the deceased man in the driver’s seat of the charred vehicle, police said.

Police and the coroner’s office have been investigating the case.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lower Makefield Township Police Department at 215-493-4055.
