After a temporary closure to focus on family matters, Guru’s Fine Indian Cuisine will be welcoming back its patrons for takeout starting Friday, April 26.
The popular eatery in Newtown Township announced its reopening.
Along with the reopening, the popular restaurant said it has shifted to a vegetarian and vegan restaurant.
Guru’s has been a part of the local dining scene since 2015 and moved to its current location on the corner of North Sycamore and Jefferson streets in 2019.
The restaurant temporarily closed its doors in January.
The owners, Priya and Ashnikumar Guru, took time off to finalize the adoption of two little girls from India.
The Bucks County Courier Times reported on Thursday that the Gurus are expecting to have their new daughters join them in the U.S. this summer.
“After a much-needed break to take care of our family, we’re eager to dive back in and serve up your favorite vegetarian and vegan dishes,” the Gurus shared in a social media post.
Initially, the restaurant will offer only takeout options as it resumes operations.
“While we get our feet wet again, we’ll be starting with takeout only. Your safety and satisfaction remain our top priorities,” the post added.
The restaurant’s temporary closure coincided with the listing of its building for sale by SVN Commercial Real Estate. However, Chichi Ahia, an executive director and principal at SVN, mentioned in January that “nothing was set in stone.”
As Guru’s prepares for its reopening, a new southern Indian food eatery is also expected to open later this year a bit further down Sycamore Street.
