Small Earthquake Felt In Area

The earthquake was felt Wednesday.

A Wednesday morning earthquake shook residents in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and Bucks County on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

The 2.6-magnitude earthquake was centered less than a mile from Gladstone in Somerset County, New Jersey. It happened at approximately 7:01 a.m.

Two NewtownPANow.com readers reported feeling a rumble in Upper Makefield Township. Facebook groups in the New Hope Borough and City of Lambertville areas had members report feeling the earthquake.

The seismic activity follows closely on the heels of a stronger 4.8-magnitude earthquake and aftershocks on April 5.

A 2.9-magnitude tremor, was recorded last Saturday morning near Gladstone.

The April earthquake was centered approximately 7 miles from Wednesday’s event.

While earthquakes in the region aren’t unheard of, they are uncommon.
