The Upper Makefield Township Police Department issued the below statement on Facebook:
“At 115pm, our department assisted another agency with the service of an involuntary commitment for a subject who rented a home in the 400 block of Brownsburg Road West. Officers spoke with this person and the subject ended up barricading themself in a bedroom and was reportedly armed with a gun. In evaluating the circumstances, it was decided to activate the Central Bucks Special Response Team to assist in bringing this incident to a peaceful resolution. A shelter in place for this area was ordered out of an abundance of caution. During this incident’s duration, the situation was contained only to the residence.”
“Negotiators with CBSRT spoke with the subject via phone for approximately two hours and were able to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the incident. No officers nor was the subject injured. The subject will be receiving treatment in regards to their mental health. We will not be identifying this person as they receive this necessary intervention.”

Upper Makefield Township police issued the below statement just before 6:30 p.m.:
“We are relieved to report that negotiations were successful and the incident has come to a safe conclusion for all involved. We will put out a debrief a little later. We thank you again for everything and please check back for more information in the next hour or so. The shelter in place has been lifted.”

A large police presence, including officers from several jurisdictions, responded to a home in Upper Makefield Township Sunday afternoon.
Authorities first alerted the public to the situation around 2:30 p.m. via social media. Police said there was law enforcement activity in the area of Brownsburg Road West and Colt’s Neck Drive due to an “ongoing incident.”
The Central Bucks Special Response Team, a regional tactical team was deployed to the 400 block of Brownsburg Road West.
Upper Makefield Township police told residents in a subsequent post that the incident was “contained to that specific residence.”
A source indicated that the standoff involved a person believed to be armed.
At 5:49 p.m., police said the tactical team and negotiators were “working diligently to bring this incident to a safe conclusion.”
Traffic was blocked in the area by officers from Newtown Borough, Newtown Township, and other neighboring towns established a wide perimeter to prevent access near the scene, a NewtownPANow.com reader reported.
Police added: “We also ask for your continued cooperation and patience as we attempt to bring this incident to a safe conclusion. We understand your frustration in regards to limited information, but please know this is done for operational security purposes to protect not only officers involved, but anyone else who may be involved.”
Residents were thanked by police for their understanding as the standoff continued into the evening.
