Newtown Borough Council voted earlier this week to hire a new full-time police officer.

Part-time Officer Tiffany Winik will start as a full-time employee on July 1.

Winik, who most recently worked as a full-time Bucks County ranger, will bring extensive experience to her new role, Newtown Borough Police Chief James Sabath said.

Winik’s move to full-time status follows a two-year stint as a part-time officer with Newtown Borough. Before joining the county rangers, she was a member of the Bristol Township Police Department.

“They’re sorry to see her go because she was an excellent employee for them. But their loss is our gain,” Sabath said. “I’m sure she’ll do a really good job for us.”
