A woman accused of taking more than $1,600 worth of cosmetics from a store in Newtown Borough in April has been identified, police said.

Newtown Borough Police Chief James Sabath said the woman has returned to the borough since.

A CrimeWatch post and media coverage of the April incident led to a tip from the public, which helped investigators identify the woman, Sabath said.

The woman is a resident of Philadelphia and lives in the Kensington neighborhood, Sabath said, adding a warrant will be issued for her arrest.

The retail theft occurred on April 10 and resulted in the loss of more than $1,600 worth of cosmetics from the CVS Pharmacy on Lincoln Avenue, police said.

The woman fled the CVS on a SEPTA bus.
