The popular Middletown Grange Fair is set to return for its 74th year.

The fair will commence at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, and will continue through Sunday, August 18, at the fairgrounds located at 576 Penns Park Road in Wrightstown Township.

The fair will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., except for Sunday, when events will wrap up at 5 p.m.

This year, organizers anticipate tens of thousands of attendees, who will enjoy a variety of attractions including 4-H displays, baking contests, amusement rides, artwork exhibitions, local business booths, an array of food vendors, and a diverse assortment of farm animals.

Amber DiIanni, the fair’s director, expressed her enthusiasm about the event at a recent Bucks County Commissioners meeting.

“We welcome everyone from Bucks County,” DiIanni told the Bucks County Commissioners last week.

DiIanni said the fair will provide fun for the community and showcase agriculture in Bucks County.

Admission to the volunteer-run event is free, but there is a $20 charge for daily parking.

The fair has established four essential rules: no dogs, alcohol, or illegal substances are allowed; entry implies consent to be photographed or filmed; all children must be accompanied by an adult; and, having fun is mandatory.

Highlights of this year’s fair include the popular pig races, a tractor parade, a pedal power tractor pull, story time, horse-drawn wagon rides, chicken dinners, and other activities.

These events are supported by the local 4-H clubs.

The origins of the Middletown Grange Fair date back to 1948, following a national challenge to grow 300 bushels of corn. The Middletown Grange members initially planted corn in nearby Yardley and invited the public to join in harvesting, marking the beginning of what would become an annual public event. By 1966, the organization had purchased the Wrightstown Township land to support the growing fair, which has since expanded its facilities to accommodate the large number of visitors it attracts each year.

A full schedule for the week can be found on the grange fair’s website.
