Quick work by firefighters is being credited with stopping a deck and hot tub blaze Friday morning.

The blaze was reported around 9 a.m. at a home near the intersection of Woodhill and Creamery roads.

As they arrived, crews found flames coming from the deck and hot tub, with the fire beginning to spread to the residence, according to Upper Makefield Fire Company Chief Tim Brewer.

“The crews did a superb job and attacked the fire early,” said Upper Makefield Fire Marshal John Kernan.

Brewer noted that the fire was under control within 15 minutes

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation as of afternoon, Kernan said.

The homeowner was present at the time and noticed smoke emanating from the rear of the house before calling 9-1-1, Brewer said.

Members of the township’s public works department, who are also volunteer firefighters, got to the scene quickly. The scene sits close to the municipal complex, according to the chief.

Woodhill Road near the scene was temporarily closed for more than an hour by township police due to the blaze.

In addition to the Upper Makefield Fire Company, Newtown Fire Rescue, the Northampton Fire Department, the Lingohocken Fire Company, the New Hope Eagle Fire Company, and Yadley-Makefield Fire Company responded to the scene.
