On Tuesday morning at the Garden of Reflection, the official state memorial to the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, families and friends of the victims gathered to honor the 18 Bucks County residents who lost their lives alongside nearly 3,000 others in one of the darkest days in American history.
The memorial in Lower Makefield Township features symbolic representations, including etched names and reflective surfaces, encompassing the collective sorrow and resilience of the community. At its center, two fountains shoot up into the sky.
The Garden of Reflection is set within a 62-acre park and was created to serve as a tribute to each life lost during the attacks on New York City, Western Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.
This year’s ceremony included moments of silence, heartfelt readings, and remembrances of the lives lost.
Locally, 18 residents of Bucks County perished in the attacks.
