A fast-moving fire that engulfed a garage and damaged a residence on Delaware Court Wednesday afternoon remained under investigation as of Thursday, according to Newtown Fire Rescue officials.

The blaze was reported at approximately 4:56 p.m. when bystanders noticed smoke emanating from an attached garage in the 20 block of Delaware Court.

Assistant Chief Nicholas Weaver of Newtown Fire Rescue reported that the resident was removed from the house by crews who were working nearby at the time the fire broke out.

Firefighters quickly responded to find the garage fully involved, with flames rapidly spreading into the main structure of the house, Weaver said.

The fire was declared under control within 20 minutes, according to Weaver.
