The Bucks County Coroner’s Office has been accredited by the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME).

Coroner Patti Campi announced that her office received the accreditation notification in late November, following an evaluation process.

A letter from IACME’s executive director from Nov. 21 praised the office for its dedication to serving the community with “the highest level of service to the citizens, neighbors, and visitors of Bucks County.”

“This accreditation is a testament to our dedication to serving the residents of Bucks County with professionalism, compassion and integrity,” Campi said. “It underscores our office’s commitment to transparency, quality and continuous improvement in fulfilling our vital role within the community.”

To receive accreditation, the Bucks County Coroner’s Office underwent an audit that reviewed over 285 standards related to administration, forensics, investigation, and facility operations. The process made sure the office adheres to international guidelines and best practices.

The office is now one of just six in Pennsylvania and among fewer than 50 nationwide to achieve this prestigious status.

IACME accreditation is valid for five years and is part of the office’s goal to adhere to best practices in serving families, law enforcement, and the judicial system, officials said.

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office plays a key role in investigating and certifying all sudden, unnatural, and violent deaths in the area. The office works closely with law enforcement, medical facilities, funeral homes, and families.
