A Lower Bucks County woman has been charged after allegedly submitting a mail-in ballot application for her deceased father for the May municipal primary, according to court papers filed this week.
Cheryl Blake, who is listed as a committeewoman for the Northampton Township Republican Committee, was charged Thursday via summons with unlawful voting and violations relating to absentee and mail-in ballots. She is scheduled to appear in district court in September on the case.
The investigation began in mid-May when a Bucks County Board of Elections staffer reported a potential issue to the district attorney’s office.
The employee found an obituary for Robert Seamans, who died on April 26, 2024, after a mail-in ballot application was completed for him on April 16, 2025, authorities said.
The email address on the application appeared to belong to his daughter, Cheryl Blake, 45, of Northampton Township, according to the affidavit.
The Bucks County Detectives were assigned to the case and were provided with electronic copies of the applications for both Seamans and Blake.
Detectives said in court papers that the email address and phone number on both applications belonged to Blake.
Both applications were submitted from the same IP address within two minutes of each other on April 16, according to authorities.
On July 18, a county detective conducted a voluntary recorded interview with Blake, and she admitted to completing the absentee application for Seamans from her home, authorities said.
Blake did not immediately return a call for comment on the case.
A spokesperson for the Bucks County Board of Elections declined comment.
