Gregg Schuster has been named the new municipal manager for Upper Makefield Township after a months-long search by the Board of Supervisors.

Schuster was hired by the supervisors in August to replace former manager Dave Nyman, who retired in the spring. Nyman had a long career in municipal government and as a teacher.

Terry Fedorchak, the former longtime manager of Lower Makefield Township, served as the interim manager for Upper Makefield from April until August.

Schuster has more than 15 years of experience, having served as a township manager in Warminster and Pocono townships and as an interim manager several municipalities, including neighboring Wrightstown Township.

The supervisors pointed to Schuster’s experience with budget development, strategic planning, emergency management, and community engagement.

“It’s a pleasure and honor to be here tonight,” Schuster said. “Each municipality is unique and has their own challenges. Mostly what I’ve found is they are all full of great people just trying to do the right thing, whether it be residents, boards or professionals. I look forward to getting to know all of you, and getting out into the community.”

“I hope that I can bring my experience here and I look forward to working with the board, the community and everyone else,” he added. “I’m here to help.”

Schuster holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and has served on several of its committees.
