A Newtown Township police officer and several bystanders were attempting to subdue the field fire, which was being fanned by Sunday’s brisk winds.

The Lingohocken Fire Company deployed a field truck and a tanker truck to douse the remaining flames.

The quick response made sure the fire, which occurred during a sustained period of dry conditions in the region, did not spread.

No injuries were reported.

Dry weather has been cited as a factor in several recent brush fires in the region.
