Original Story:

Three suspects were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after an investigation into alleged bank fraud in Newtown Township and a large manhunt.

Newtown Township police said officers on patrol spotted what they believed to be suspicious activity around 12:30 p.m. outside the Truist Bank located on Campus Drive, just off the Newtown Bypass.

When looking into the situation, officers confirmed that a fraud was in progress inside the bank, police said.

While officers were investigating, a vehicle believed to be connected to the fraud fled the scene.

Police broadcast a description of the vehicle over the radio, and it was located a short time later at a Wawa on Lower Silver Lake Road.

When officers attempted to make contact with the vehicle’s occupants at the Wawa, the driver allegedly rammed a Newtown Township police vehicle in an effort to flee, police said.
