Dog Dies, Three Families Displaced In Newtown Twp. Fire

Multiple fire companies responded.

A fire ripped through one home and damaged two others late last Friday night in Newtown Township.

Crews were dispatched to the reported dwelling fire on Magnolia Drive at 10:06 p.m. Newtown Township police officers arrived first at the scene and confirmed the home was actively burning, according to Newtown Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Nick Weaver.

Firefighters arrived and launched an offensive attack on the flames.

As additional crews arrived at the scene, teams deployed additional hose lines to combat the fire, Weaver said.

There were no injuries reported among residents or responders, but one dog perished in the blaze, according to Weaver.

Township fire investigators and local police have determined the fire was accidental in nature, and the exact cause remains under investigation, the assistant chief told NewtownPANow.com.

The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania is assisting the three displaced families with their unmet needs.

Firefighters remained at the scene for approximately three and a half hours.

In addition to Newtown Fire Rescue, the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, Lingohocken Fire Company, Northampton Fire Department, Penndel Fire Company, Upper Makefield Fire Company, and Yardley-Makefield Fire Company.
