After three days of county-wide screening, Republican congressional candidate Brian Fitzpatrick continues to maintain a lead over five other candidates in the race for the upcoming April primary.
In Upper Bucks County, GOP committee members on Thursday cast 34 votes for Fitzpatrick, seven for former county prosecutor Dean Malik and 2 votes for State Rep. Scott Petri.
Earlier in the week, Central and Lower Bucks County committee members also voted overwhelmingly for Fitzpatrick, who was a former FBI Special Agent until last month, when he resigned his position and announced his run for Congress.
The other Republican candidates for Congress include Petri (of Upper Makefield), Andy Warren (former county commissioner from Middletown), Malki (a former county prosecutor from Doylestown), neuropsychologist Marc Dwome, and Brian Thomas (a businessman from Morrisville).
As of Friday night, Republican committee members have voted 209 for Fitzpatrick, 22 for Petri, and eight for Malik, and four for Andy Warren.
There will be two more Republican screenings next week in Upper and Lower Southampton, Warmnister and Ivyland, Morrisville, New Hope, Newtown, Solebury, Wrightstown, and Upper Makefield.
The winner could receive the endorsement of the Bucks County Republican Party, which plans to meet on February 11.
Petri, along with the other Republican candidates, have called for an open primary.
