The Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition is seeking entries for its 24th annual competition and has selected a panel of jurors to choose the images – and prize winners – for the show scheduled for June 5-26 at the 1756 grist mill just outside New Hope.
The exhibition’s theme is “Photography as Art” and “Photographer as Artist.” Work is accepted in any medium involving a photographic process. It draws entries from hobbyists, as well as professional artists from throughout the country and, in some years, from around the globe. More than half a dozen financial awards are presented, including a prize for “Best of Show.”
Entries may be submitted digitally online at www.phillipsmill.org by Feb. 26, or hand delivered, framed, March 4 and 5 to Phillips Mill, 2619 River Road (Route 32), New Hope (Solebury Township), Pa. There is no limit to the number of submissions.
Entry fee is $42 for up to four images; $10 for each additional image submitted. PMPE also accepts matted and covered images for non-juried portfolio bins. The fee is $10 per image. All work submitted for the exhibition must be available for sale.
This year’s jurors, who will select about 150 images, include:
- Stephanie Lisle, originally from Hamburg, Germany, is an art promoter in Bucks County. She spent 20 years behind the camera photographing fashion, portraits and commercial work, creating her own documentary style artwork. She opened the Bucks County Project Gallery focusing on the art of photography. She continues to promote and organize art events in Bucks County, such as the Doylestown Historical Society and the Pennsylvania Center for Photography.
- John Stritzinger is an avid photographer from Elkins Park. He actively participates in and leads outings with area photography clubs. His award- winning style has been included in more than a dozen juried shows and published in Photographer’s Forum Best of Photography in 2014 and 2015.
- Roberto. A. Quezada, from Guatemala, and raised outside of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley, majored in film theory and esthetics. He also studied philosophy and theology at the East Los Angeles College and Santa Clara University. As a filmmaker for 25 years, he was on light and camera work for directors that included Don Coscarelli, Agnes Varda and Quentin Tarantino.
