Police Log: Fraud Complaint, Burglary & More

March 11

Fraud 

A resident of Newtown Township called police around 12:20 p.m. to report that he had previously received a letter from Publishers Clearing House about winning money.  Today someone called him saying they were from Publishers and told him if he goes to the CVS in Wrightstown with $650 cash, check or money order he will receive $1.2 million.  The caller provided him with a name of the person he was to meet and give the cash to.  The resident chose not to follow the instruction and hadn’t provided any personal information to the caller.  An officer did go to the CVS and spoke to an employee who didn’t have any information about the situation.

March 12

Vandalism

Police were dispatched to a home in Newtown Grant around 9:30 a.m. for a report of criminal mischief to an automobile.  The responding officer spoke to the resident who stated that he arrived home at approximately 1:00 a.m. and his car was fine when he parked it.  This morning at 9:20 a.m., he found that his vehicle had toilet paper, whipped cream, banana and oranges all over it, including the side windows, rear trunk, hood and front windows.  The total value of damage to the vehicle is unknown at this time.

Burglary

At approximately 11:40 p.m. police were dispatched to a home on Jane Chapman Drive for a report of a burglary.  The responding officer observed where there was forced entry to gain access into the home and summoned a detective who will take over the investigation.  The victims will provide a list of missing items when they have completed checking the home.    

March 13

Vandalism

A resident of Honey Locust Lane called police around 10:30 a.m. to report criminal mischief to her vehicle.  The responding officer met with the victim and observed a flat tire and a long scratch on the car.  The victim said that she parked the car in the driveway around 6:00 p.m. and this morning noticed the damage at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning.
