Hundreds of people gathered Saturday morning for the Newtown Business Association’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.
The event started at 8:30 a.m. at Pickering Manor Field at the corner of Frost Street and Lincoln Avenue in Newtown Borough.
Children were grouped by age and adults were even able to take part in collecting the roughly 3,500 eggs scattered throughout the field.
Newtown resident Paul Salvatore kicked off the egg hunt that sent children on a mad dash through the field to grab their eggs, a good number filled with surprises from area businesses.
On Wednesday, volunteers worked at Pickering Manor to fill the eggs in preparation for the hunt.
By the end of the hunt, exhausted children looked at their egg haul and left with a smile.
Food collected at the egg hunt was donated to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morrisville, which will be distributed to food banks in Lower Bucks County and Trenton.
