Police officers suffered minor scrapes and bruises and a medic was kicked during an incident Thursday night.

After speaking with police and medics from St. Mary Medical Center’s Emergency Service’s Unit, a subject dealing with a mental health crisis in Upper Makefield became involved in a scuffle with first responders. Eventually, the subject was subdued and taken to the hospital for evaluation, police said.

According to authorities, officers sustained minor scrapes and bruises and a medic received a kick to the stomach.

“No charges will be filed as we hope the mental health treatment they will receive will benefit them the most as they continue on their path to recovery,” police said in a Facebook post.

Police from Lower Makefield assisted Upper Makefield officers at the scene.

The location of the incident was not released by police.

Earlier in the evening, officers from Upper Makefield responded to another call involving a subject having a mental health crisis.
