Ticketmaster Forced To Give Free Event Tickets As Part Of Lawsuit Settlement

ticketmaster209524The settlement of a class-action lawsuit involving Ticketmaster means some people have credits and free tickets waiting for them.

The $397 million class-action lawsuit involved fees charged for shipping and processing fees, sometimes known as the “Order Processing Fee.” The case was settled recently and could involve as many as 50 million Ticketmaster customers who purchased tickets through the company from October 21, 1999 to February 27, 2013.

As part of the settlement, discount codes are being offered for future online ticket purchases and some users are eligible for vouchers for free tickets to some concerts. Those who are able to receive codes and free tickets as part of the settlement should have been notified by the company.

Ticketmaster listed on its LiveNation website that a list of eligible events where codes and free vouchers can be used will be listed soon online.

The case Schlesinger et al vs. Ticketmaster began in 2003 when it was alleged the company was charging customers “excessive and deceptive” fees for event ticket purchases.
