January 1
Suspected DUI Crash
At approximately 12:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of South Sycamore Street for a report of a traffic accident. The responding officer made contact with the single vehicle that was involved and identified him as 66-year-old David McDonagh of Warrington. A brief investigation led the officer to form the opinion that McDonagh had operated his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol to the degree that he was incapable of safe driving. McDonagh was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown where he submitted to a blood draw. The blood has been submitted to the lab for analysis and charges of DUI are pending the lab results.
January 4
Fraud
A resident of Wrightstown Township came to police headquarters shortly before 8:30 a.m. to file a fraud complaint. The victim reported that an unknown person(s) made a successful ATM/Debit card transaction without her knowledge. The transaction was for $351.16 and took place in Plymouth Meeting in late December. The victim told police that two additional transactions were attempted but were not successful. The victim advised that she is working with the fraud department of her bank and the funds have been credited back to her account.
January 5
Criminal Mischief/Theft
At approximately 11:15 a.m., assistant construction manager of the Reserves housing development came to police headquarters to report that a unknown person(s) opened a water valve in the basement of a house on Lot 15 resulting in an estimated $8,500 in damage. He also reported the theft of a hot water tank from Lot 13 valued at $1,100. There were no surveillance cameras at the site when the damage was done but the construction company is in the process of having them installed.
