Snow on the ground won’t stop Rita’s Italian Ice locations from offering free water ice Monday.
As they have for the past 25 years, all Rita’s Italian Ice locations will be offering free water ice cups to help welcome spring on Monday, March 20 from noon to 9 p.m. The nearest Rita’s is located at 14 Swamp Road in Newtown.
Rita’s gave away 1.2 million cups of their famous water ice on the first day of spring in 2012, according to the Bensalem-based company.
In accordance with the 21st Century, Rita’s is asking people to share their #RitasFirstDayofSpring photographs on social media.
Former Philadelphia firefighter Bob Tumolo started the chain in Bensalem in 1984. Since then, the company has been sold and expanded with stores across the globe.
If you’re looking to support smaller, locally-owned businesses, Zebra-Striped Whale is located on State Street in Newtown Borough, Owowcow Creamery is off Durham Road in Wrightstown and Goodnoe Farm Dairy Barn is on South Sycamore Street in Newtown Township.
