Washington Crossing Rehearsal Slated For Sunday

The rehearsal reenactment of Revolutionary War soldiers rowing across the Delaware River at Washington Crossing Historic Park is set for Sunday.

The rehearsal will also feature colonial-era activities and demonstrations for kids and adults will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the river crossing planned for 1 p.m. at the state park in Upper Makefield. As part of the festivities, General George Washington, portrayed by Middletown resident and Langhorne police Chief John Godzieba, will present his commemorative speech, and there will be marches from reenactors will take place before the crossing.

The rehearsal has an admission fee of $8 for adults, $4 for children age five to 11, and no cost for those under age five. The funds will benefit programs at the park.

The 66th annual Christmas Day crossing will take place from noon to 3 p.m. and is free. The reenactors plan to row across the Delaware River to New Jersey at 1 p.m.
