With just days left to collect donations for the annual Holiday Gift Card Drive, United Way of Bucks County is seeking public support to help fulfill every request.

The organization originally planned to serve 1,200 older children and teens. However, a record number of families, case workers, and social workers are seeking assistance this year.

There are currently over 1,528 young people with a verified need on the list for holiday gift card help. The organization has enough donations to serve about 818 young people, leaving 710 without assistance. Leaders at the organization say that another $24,850 in community donations will be needed by December 18 to meet the need.

United Way hopes to be able to fulfill every request, but this project relies on community support.

“This is an important program in our community,” said Danielle Bush of the United Way. “We don’t want to turn anyone away, but without donations from the community, we will not be able to help everyone.”

This would be the first year the organization would not be able to help everyone on their list.

Community members can donate online at www.uwbucks.org/giftcarddrive or mail a check to United Way of Bucks County, 413 Hood Blvd., Fairless Hills, PA, 19030 with “Gift Card Drive” on the memo line.

All donations go to local teens and older kids who are experiencing a true need this holiday season. Any questions can be directed to Danielle Bush at danielleb@uwbucks.org or call 215-949-1660, ext 112.
