January 20

Retail Theft

Officers were dispatched to 7-Eleven at approximately 1:15 p.m. for the report of a theft. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from Bucks County Sheriff’s Office and was also charged with theft and receiving stolen property in connection to this incident.

Theft

At approximately 2 p.m., officers received the report of a theft that occurred in July 2022 from the outside mailboxes at the Newtown Post Office. Checks were stolen and fraudulently cashed, and the investigation is ongoing at this time.

January 21

Retail Theft

Officers were dispatched to Acme Market around 12:30 p.m. for the report of a retail theft in progress. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property.

Fraud

Officers were dispatched to WSFS Bank around 1 p.m. for the report of a fraud in progress. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with forgery, using a counterfeit access device, passing bad checks, and theft by deception.

January 22

Assault

At approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with simple assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, and harassment.

DUI

At approximately 11:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Corvette operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Cliveden Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer observed signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit to chemical blood testing, and charges are pending.

January 24

Fraud

At approximately 10:15 a.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report a fraud involving forged checks. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

January 25

Attempted Fraud

At 2:30 p.m., a Wrightstown Township resident responded to police headquarters to report a fraud attempt. The resident explained that he received a call from someone claiming to work for Comcast. The caller said there was something wrong with the resident’s internet router and requested remote access to the resident’s computer. The resident granted them access and was told he would be contacted the next day. The caller called back the next day and advised that the resident was overcharged and that they’d return the money, but needed his bank account information. The resident shared his bank account information, but then became weary. He contacted the bank to change his account information once he realized it was a scam. 

January 26

Robbery

At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Cambridge Lane and Richboro Road for the report of a robbery of an occupied vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
