Four unclaimed remains of military veterans will be laid to rest this week.

Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck announced the public is invited to attend the services at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Upper Makefield Township at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The cemetery is located at 830 Highland Road.

The four veterans will be interred with military honors.

“The  community is invited to join the Bucks County Coroner’s Office at the Unattended Veterans Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery to honor men who served our country and have them properly laid to rest,” Buck said.

The veterans who will be interred are:

• George Collins, U.S. Army (Specialist), from Doylestown Township
• Victor L. Judge, U.S. Air Force (Airman Basic), from Falls Township
• Alvin Emmet Lyles, U.S. Army (Private), from Bristol Township
• Augustus Tomlinson, U.S. Army (Sergeant), from Bristol Township

“George Collins and Victor L. Judge both passed away in 2014, while Alvin Emmet Lyles and Augustus Tomlinson passed away in 2015,” the coroner’s office said.

“During the ceremony, the veterans’ names will be read, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present  the flag on the behalf of the veterans,” the coroner’s office said.

A rifle salute and Taps will be performed at the ceremony before the veterans’ remains will be placed in the columbarium.

The ceremony makes sure military veterans are laid to rest with honors if there is no family to claim them.
