Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck announced the identification of another unclaimed decedent as a U.S. military veteran who died in 2015.

The Unattended Veterans Service is open to the public and will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 830 Highland Road in Upper Makefield Township.

The event will commemorate the service and sacrifice of Richard Brooks, a U.S. Army private first class who served during the World War II-era. He was from Doylestown Borough.

During the ceremony, the names of the veterans will be read aloud, and the Pennsylvania Military Honors team will present the flag on behalf of the deceased. A rifle salute and live Taps will also be provided at the ceremony.

After the ceremony, Brooks’ remains will be placed in his own niche in the columbarium, which will be engraved with the words “Proudly Served.”

The Bucks County Coroner’s Office said they are committed to ensuring that all unclaimed residents receive the respect and dignity they deserve in death.

“Our office is working  diligently to have the county’s unclaimed properly laid to rest. We are proud to see that those who served our  country are honored and given a special sendoff,” said Buck.
