March 25
DUI
At approximately 1:18 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a blue Honda Accord operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown Gate Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
March 26
DUI
At approximately 2:02 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota Corolla operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Newtown Gate Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
Theft From Vehicles
At 3:53 am police were dispatched to the area of Leedom Way for the report of a male, dressed in black, under a vehicle. The suspicious subject was startled and fled the area, but it was discovered that the catalytic converter had been removed from the vehicle. On March 28, at approximately 9 a.m., police were dispatched to another residence on Leedom Way, in reference to a stolen catalytic converter. On the morning of March 26, the resident noticed their vehicle not sounding correct when it was started. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop and informed the owner that the catalytic converter had been removed. The incidents are under investigation.
March 29
Stolen Vehicle
At 7:11 a.m., police responded to a residence on Cambridge Lane for the report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner reported that the vehicle was unlocked at the time. Police are investigating the incident.
Attempted Vehicle Theft
At approximately 8:49 a.m., police were dispatched to Leedom Way for the report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. It was reported that a neighbor had texted the vehicle owner around 1:30 a.m., alerting them to check the vehicle due to seeing four people around the vehicle. When the owner checked on the vehicle, they discovered that the steering column was broken. While canvassing the area, it was discovered that two other residents’ vehicles had been entered and gone through. While nothing was taken, the incidents are under investigation.
