UPDATE: 2:33 p.m., Friday:

The standoff ended Friday with the man surrendering. Below is the statement from police:

“On Friday, April 07, 2023 in the early morning hours, Newtown Township Police responded to a report of a mental health warrant assistance assignment in the 300 block of West Hanover Street in Newtown Township. A male subject was reportedly armed with a shotgun and refused commands to exit the property. The additional occupants of the home were removed, and a decision was made to initiate a “barricade subject” protocol, where numerous agencies from the Bucks County South-Central Emergency Response Team responded to the scene. Road closures including Richboro Road from Mill Pond to St Leonard’s Road were put into place, and adjoining properties were evacuated for the safety of the public. After several hours of negotiations, the adult male surrendered to police, and was subsequently transported to a medical facility for treatment. Criminal charges are also pending. Road closures were open by 12:00pm. As a result of police action, there were no reported injuries to the offender, the public or to the police officers.”
