The incumbent Democratic Bucks County coroner was defeated by her opponent in the primary election.
Warwick Township nurse and businesswoman Patti Campi beat nurse and attorney Meredith Buck in the Democratic primary, according to preliminary results.
Charles Stockert, a Republican from Hilltown Township, was the lone member of his party running in the primary for the seat.
Stockert will face off against Campi in the general election.
The coroner investigates and certifies all sudden, unnatural and violent deaths. The office is tasked with working with law enforcement, funeral homes, medical facilities, and families.
Buck took office in 2020 and saw the coroner’s office through the COVID-19 pandemic. She sparred with the Bucks County Commissioners over her office’s budget and dealt with turnover of staff.

Buck ran her campaign focusing on her time as coroner and told voters she had the experience to keep performing the job.
Campi touted her nursing career and running a family carpentry business in her campaign. With the party’s endorsement, she received campaign promotion and assistance that Buck did not.
Stockert previously worked as a deputy county coroner, a fire chief, a medic, and a police officer. He also has worked in a funeral home.
