After a decade in business, the Smoothie King franchise in Newtown Township closed up shop recently.

The franchise opened in the Village of Newtown shopping center on South Eagle Road in 2013. As of Monday, the business was closed and the interior was cleared out.

No one was at the storefront, and a phone call was not answered on Monday afternoon.

The Bucks County Courier Times reported in 2013 that the Smoothie King location would be opening in the shopping center.

Smoothie King is known for making a variety of smoothies designed to have a “flavor for every taste.” The company also sells goods in stores, such as energy bars, vitamins, supplements, and more.

Steve and Cindy Kuhnau established Smoothie King in Kenner, Louisiana, in 1973. The Kuhnaus sold the business in 2012 to Wan Kim, a South Korean Smoothie King franchisee since 2002. He leads the business as CEO.

Smoothie King has more than 1,300 locations worldwide, with the company opening 100 new stores in 2021.

Smoothie King operates nearby locations in Lower Southampton Township and Middletown Township.
