A barn was engulfed in flames Wednesday evening, with smoke being seen for some distance.

The Lingohocken Fire Company was first dispatched to the scene of a brush fire getting out of control in the vicinity of Lower Mountain Road and Forest Grove Road in Buckingham Township, about two miles from the Wrightstown Township border, just before 7 p.m.

The assignment was quickly upgraded to a full-blown barn fire as additional 9-1-1 calls poured in minutes after the first call, according to a post from the Lingohocken Fire Company.

Upon arrival, the chief of the Lingohocken Fire Company reported that a 20-foot-by-40-foot barn was ablaze, with flames spurting high into the evening sky, the fire company said.

Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services and police were on the scene.
