The investigation into the homicide of an older man in Wrightstown Township continued this week, and NewtownPANow.com has exclusively been able to confirm investigators have identified a “person of interest” in the case.
The Bucks County Coroner’s Office last week revealed Richard MacFarland, 72, was found deceased inside his home on Saturday, October 7.
The cause of death was multiple stab and slash wounds, and it was ruled a homicide, according to Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck.
No charges have been filed, and police released few details on the murder.
Law enforcement sources said investigators have identified a “person of interest” in the killing, but the probe was ongoing and details were still being sorted out as of Tuesday afternoon.
This news organization was able to confirm that MacFarland’s body was discovered inside his home at 55 Apple Hill Road, which sits in Wrightstown Township near the borders with Buckingham Township and Warwick Township.
“There is no threat to the community because of this tragic event,” Newtown Township police Captain Jason Harris said last Friday.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and Bucks County Detectives were working with Newtown Township police, who patrol Wrightstown Township, to investigate the homicide.
The three-bedroom home where MacFarland was found was recently listed for sale for $449,000, but its listing was removed after Oct. 7, according to real estate data.
