The sound of fighter jets ripped through a calm Sunday afternoon in Lower Bucks County.

Two F-16C Fighting Falcons from the New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Fighter Wing circled the area several times Sunday afternoon in advance of their flyover at the start of the Philadelphia Eagles’ game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The fighter jets did several low passes over the Levittown area before heading over Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

According to flight tracking software, the jets were based out of Atlantic City Air National Guard Base.

Fighter jets in a holding pattern over the area ahead of Eagles games are not uncommon, but it certainly does catch the attention of locals.

The Philadelphia Eagles ended up besting the Dallas Cowboys 28-23 during the game.

The 177th Fighter Wing operates the single-seat aircraft F-16C Fighting Falcon.

The F-16 serves as a versatile, multi-role fighter, designed for agility in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attacks, according to the U.S. Air Force.

The 177th Fighter Wing has played a role in Operation Noble Eagle, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom since October 1998. Currently, personnel and aircraft from the wing are deployed to the Middle East.
