Langhorne resident Tara Tamburello has been named the 2023 Bucks County Poet Laureate, Bucks County Community College officials announced recently.

Tamburello, a marketing professional and published poet, was selected from 60 entries in the 47th annual contest, according to Dr. Ethel Rackin, the program’s director.

Raised along the Neshaminy Creek in Bucks County, Tamburello’s work has appeared in various journals, including Ghost City Review and Bone Parade, and in anthologies by Vestal Review and Sans. PRESS. A former Bucks County Short Fiction Contest winner, Tamburello was also the 2021 poet laureate contest runner-up.

The Bucks County Commissioners sponsor the contest.

Residing in Langhorne with her husband, two children, and a cat, Tamburello is part of the Law School Admission Council’s marketing team. Her interests include gardening, video gaming, music, hiking, and painting. Her work is available at taratamburello.com.

Philadelphia poet Courtney Bambrick and Brooklyn poet Joanna Fuhrman, this year’s judges, praised the strength of the entries.

Tamburello performed her poetry Sunday at the college’s Newtown Township campus.

The runners-up this year were Lake Angela, Kevin Taylor, and Melinda Rizzo.

The Bucks County Poet Laureate program, administered by the community college, is Pennsylvania’s longest-running such program.
