Police Log: Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest, Resident Sent Fake $80,000 Check & More

December 9

Drug Arrest

At approximately 2 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Windy Bush Road and Williams Avenue. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered and seized as evidence. Charges are pending.

Fraud

Around 6 p.m., police were contacted in regards to a fraud involving gift cards being stolen and replaced with fakes in a grocery store. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

December 10

Retail Theft

At approximately 4:30 p.m., police were dispatched for retail thefts in progress at Ulta Beauty and Lululemon. As a result of the investigation, four female subjects were arrested and charged with Retail Theft – Take Merchandise, Conspiracy, Receiving Stolen Property, and Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.    

December 13

Retail Theft

During the course of another retail theft investigation, police were notified of an additional retail theft that occurred at Lululemon on December 11.  The investigation is ongoing at this time.

December 14

Fraud

A Newtown Township resident responded to headquarters shortly before noon to report fraud. The resident explained that someone contacted him through Microsoft Teams with a job opportunity. They sent him an employment contract to sign and a check for $80,000 that he deposited into his bank. The resident did not realize it was a scam until the bank notified him that the check was fraudulent. The resident did not suffer a monetary loss, and the incident was documented.

Around 3 p.m., police were contacted in regards to a fraud involving more gift cards being stolen and replaced with fakes in a grocery store. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Retail Theft

Around 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty for the report of a retail theft in progress. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Retail Theft – Take Merchandise, Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot, and Resisting Arrest.
