‘Tis the season of joy and giving, and once again, we find ourselves in the heart of the holiday season. The Holiday Gift Card Drive, organized by the United Way of Bucks County, is in full swing, and we are honored to serve as its media sponsor for another year.
While Christmas is right around the corner, there is still the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
As of this week, we find ourselves in need of additional contributions to ensure that we can provide support to more than 2,000 older kids and teenagers in Bucks County who are counting on us this holiday season.
The Holiday Gift Card Drive allows us to step away from the holiday rush and turn our attention to what truly matters: extending kindness, caring for others, and reaching out to those who may be facing difficult times.
What makes this program so remarkable is its simplicity. Families with tweens and teens who may not be able to afford gifts this year are provided with gift cards for stores and eateries they frequent, often with their friends. These gift cards enable them to enjoy a treat or purchase something they truly need. The dedicated team at the United Way of Bucks County has worked tirelessly over the years to maximize the impact of donations by purchasing gift cards in bulk at discounted rates.
Even the smallest surprise, like a gift card, can bring immense joy in a year when many families have been impacted by rising inflation rates.
Over the past decade, LevittownNow.com, NewtownPANow.com, and now NewHopeFreePress.com has been privileged to collaborate with the United Way of Bucks County on this remarkable initiative. As a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Bucks County, I am especially proud of the difference we are making in our community.
Our generous readers and business partners have consistently demonstrated an incredible level of support. A donation as modest as $35 can provide a gift card for one deserving older kid or teen.
Our community has many worthy causes to support during this time of year, and we understand that finances may be tighter than usual for many families.
