Law enforcement agencies in the Philadelphia region are intensifying their search after a 17-year-old murder defendant escaped custody on Wednesday.
Shane Pryor was in custody on charges of murder, conspiracy, and firearms offenses related to a 2020 killing in Philadelphia
The teenager fled from the emergency room parking lot of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shortly before noon, according to reports.
The escape prompted an immediate response from local and federal law enforcement.
The U.S. Marshals Service has issued a warning that Pryor might be traveling in a stolen Ford F-150, with Pennsylvania license plate ZTS-0503. They urge the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings.
Pryor was reportedly transported to the hospital due to a hand injury.
At the time of his escape, he was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, socks, and slides. Police have said that Pryor may have discarded the sweatshirt. He is described as being 5-foot-7 and weighing 180 pounds.
In a report by 6abc, Pryor’s mother, who requested anonymity, urged her son to surrender.
“Just turn yourself in so it don’t get any worse than it has to be… mommy is fighting for you, I’ll always be fighting for you,” she said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information on Pryor’s whereabouts to contact the U.S. Marshals Service immediately at 1-877-WANTED-2.
