Newtown Memorial Day Parade Returns Monday

The parade will also close several roads.

The annual Newtown Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27.

The parade will form at Newtown Commons West on Newtown-Yardley Road and will proceed west along Washington Avenue into the borough at 9 a.m.

The parade will pause at the Newtown Cemetery for a ceremony from 9 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the parade will continue down Washington Avenue, with a second ceremony taking place in front of Newtown Borough Hall.

The parade will conclude at the Newtown Legion Morell Smith Post 440 at 41 Linden Avenue.

In preparation for the event, temporary no parking will be in effect starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, May 27, according to Newtown borough and township police. The following streets will be affected:

  • South Elm Avenue between Washington Avenue and Centre Avenue
  • Centre Avenue between Lincoln Avenue and Congress Street
  • South Congress Street between Centre Avenue and Washington Avenue
  • State Street between Greene Street and Centre Avenue

Road closures will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will include:

  • Washington Avenue between Terry Drive and Sycamore Street
  • Lincoln Avenue between Greene Street and Penn Street
  • State Street between Jefferson Avenue and Centre Avenue
  • Centre Avenue
  • Congress Street

In Newtown Township, road closures will also be in effect for:

  • Richboro Road between the Newtown Bypass and South Sycamore Street
  • South Sycamore Street between Washington Avenue and Cambridge Lane
  • Newtown Yardley Road between Terry Drive and Elm Avenue

Parking is available in the borough’s municipal parking lots.
