Dan Michael, a resident in Falls Township’s Levittown section, reported that he felt the rumbling as he was working early Friday. About 15 miles away in the City of Lambertville, New Jersey, a resident told this news organization they were awakened by the light rumble and their dog started barking.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that a 2.9 magnitude tremor happened shortly before 4 a.m. in Tewksbury, Hunterdon County. The epicenter sits about 34 miles from Levittown and 15 miles from the City of Lambertville.
The U.S. Geological Survey listed resident reports from the Levittown and Newtown areas where people felt the early morning rumble.
News 12 New Jersey reported that the aftershock was felt as far as Long Island and Staten Island in New York.
Since a 4.8 magnitude earthquake rocked the region in April, more than 150 aftershocks have been reported, with many felt in the area.
Since April, no major damage has been reported in the area from the earthquakes.
Earthquakes are not very common in the region, but they do happen on occasion.
