The picturesque Tyler Gardens at Bucks County Community College will play host to the third annual Michael G. Fitzpatrick Foundation Garden Party.
The event will take place on Sunday, June 2, at 3 p.m. at the community college’s Newtown Township campus.
At the event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the beneficiaries of this year’s scholarships, known as Fitzpatrick Scholars, who will be formally introduced and celebrated for their academic and civic ambitions.
Supporting the scholars, Bucks County Community College contributes through a specialized “success coach” who works closely with students to foster their academic and professional growth.
Named in honor of the late Bucks County Commissioner and Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, the foundation was established by his family and friends to perpetuate his dedication to public service and civic duty. The event, set against the lush backdrop of the college’s main campus on Swamp Road, marks the foundation’s principal fundraising initiative for the year.
Jim Fitzpatrick, father of both the late congressman and current Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, said: “The Foundation is a legacy and a tribute to Michael, whose often-stated commitment was public service, civic duty and always the people of Bucks County. “We’re committed to honoring his legacy with an ongoing scholarship program that can help launch the future careers of some similarly dedicated kids year after year.”
Mike Fitzpatrick died at 56 years old in January 2020. He had battled cancer for man years.
The foundation’s board includes notable figures such as former Gov. Mark Schweiker, Mitch Goldberg, Elaine Maye, former Bucks County Clerk of Courts Mary Smithson, Joel Bolstein, and Jim McCaffrey, who collectively guide the foundation’s mission.
