SEPTA has announced that repairs and upgrades to Regional Rail infrastructure will disrupt weekend services.
The work is expected to begin on Saturday, July 27 and are slated to continue through Sunday, August 18.
The repair work will primarily affect the sections between Fern Rock Transportation Center and Wayne Junction Station, and the entire Fox Chase Line. It will impact five major rail lines: Fox Chase, Glenside, Lansdale/Doylestown, Warminster, and West Trenton.
To accommodate the construction, no trains will operate between Fern Rock and Wayne Junction or on the Fox Chase Line on the weekends of July 27-28, August 3-4, August 10-11, and August 17-18, SEPTA said.
The work will include switch replacements, track and signal enhancements, station upgrades, and brush clearing along key sections of the network.
During these weekends, SEPTA will deploy shuttle buses to replace trains between Fox Chase and Wayne Junction.
According to SEPTA, all inbound trains from the Glenside, Lansdale/Doylestown, Warminster, and West Trenton lines will terminate at Fern Rock Transportation Center. From there, passengers can access the Broad Street Line [B] to travel southbound towards Center City. For outbound trips, travelers can take the Broad Street Line northbound from Center City to Fern Rock, where they can connect with their respective trains.
“SEPTA has scheduled this project during the summer when ridership is traditionally lower to minimize the impact on regular customers,” SEPTA said in a statement.
The transit agency will have ambassadors will be onsite to answer questions and assist passengers during the construction.
