The 8th annual Newtown Black and White Dinner is set to take place on North State Street on Saturday, September 7.

The event serves as a fundraiser in support of the historic Newtown Theatre.

The unique event will transform North State Street in Newtown Borough into an alfresco dining venue where 1,000 guests dressed in black and white will enjoy an evening under the stars, according to organizers.

The fun will commence at 5:30 p.m. as diners will find long tables draped in white linens that stretch down the center of the street. Guests are invited to decorate their tables, mingle, and enjoy live jazz music before sitting down to dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The dining experience will wrap up at 8 p.m. as diners will light sparklers simultaneously to create a spectacle perfect for Instagram, according to organizers.

Following the dinner, the Newtown Theatre will host a dueling pianos concert, the first event after its reopening from renovations. Concert tickets must be purchased separately, and space is limited to 250 attendees.

Attendees to the dinner are encouraged to bring their own dinner setups, including food, utensils, and optional black and white décor. Diners are asked to wear white and black, but they don’t have to don formal wear unless they wish to wear it.

A pre-order option for meals prepared by Newtown Township’s Ardana Food and Drink is available at an additional cost, with meals served cold and ready for pickup at the event.

The evening also includes competitions with awards for the Best Dressed Man and Woman, Best Dressed Group, Most Elegant Table, and Most Creative Table, organizers said.

Tickets for the dinner are priced at $30 for theatre members and $40 for non-members, excluding the cost of pre-ordered dinners. Those interested in joining the event can purchase tickets and find more information at TheNewtownTheatre.com/blackandwhitedinner
