The Women’s Animal Center is teamed up with Inspire Federal Credit Union and NBC Universal to host the 10th annual Clear The Shelters Pet Adoption Event on September 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.cm.
The event, which encourages nationwide pet adoptions, will waive adoption fees for cats, dogs, and small pets at the center located at 3839 Richlieu Road, thanks to the sponsorship by Inspire Federal Credit Union.
“Inspire Federal Credit Union is incredibly proud to support such a worthwhile initiative.” said Jim Merrill, President and CEO of Inspire Federal Credit Union. “The role the shelter plays in our local community is transformative, and the positive impact pet adoptions have on families is powerful. Contributing our resources to finding good homes for these pets is truly rewarding.”
All pets adopted during this special event will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Additionally, they will be eligible for discounted veterinary services on their first wellness visit to ensure they start their new lives healthy and happy.
Prospective adopters are encouraged to visit the Women’s Animal Center website to prepare for adoption day. Necessary documentation includes a lease agreement permitting pets for renters, and an introduction of the pet to all household members and any dogs already in the home to ensure a good match.
The center also recommends that dog adopters use no-pull style collars and harnesses, which are available for purchase at the event. Those adopting a cat, rabbit, or other small pets should bring a carrier or opt for a disposable cardboard carrier provided by the shelter.
In addition to a new furry family member, adopters will receive a special take-home gift bag with pet items courtesy of Inspire Federal Credit Union.
