Vice President Kamala Harris’ Wednesday afternoon campaign stop at Washington Crossing Historic Park in Upper Makefield Township will cause traffic trouble.
Like all high-level campaign visits, local, county, state, and federal law enforcement will be escorting Harris’ motorcade through the area and blocking traffic during the movements.
Harris, according to law enforcement and political sources, will be landing in Air Force Two at Trenton-Mercer Airport and heading to the historic site.
Pennsylvania State Police out of Trevose said there will be “anticipated traffic disruptions” due to the visit.
Troopers have advised the public of traffic delays and intermittent road closures between 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on I-295 eastbound and westbound in Lower Makefield Township, River Road in Lower Makefield Township, Taylorsville Road in Lower Makefield Township and Upper Makefield Township, and General Washington Memorial Boulevard in Upper Makefield Township
“It is anticipated these traffic disruptions will cause secondary roads throughout the area to also be impacted,” troopers said.
Upper Makefield Township police said traffic impacts are expected and local residents will be able to get to and from their homes if they live near the park.
The U.S. Secret Service has been securing the historic park near the Visitors Center since Tuesday ahead of Harris’ campaign event, which will include a speech.
