Rep. Marcell Keeps 178th District Seat

The Republican lawmaker was reelected.

State Rep. Kristin Marcell has been reelected to her seat in the 178th Legislative District. 

Marcell, a Wrightstown Township Republican, held back a challenge from Paul Lang Sr., a Northampton Township Democrat.

According to unofficial results, Marcell earned 61.25 percent of the vote and Lang got 38.5 percent.

Marcell has worked in the private sector, previously served as a communications director of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and also worked in Congress.

Prior to being elected to state office, Marcell served on the Council Rock School Board.

Several of Marcell’s pieces of legislation were related to crime, including fighting antisemitism and stalking. 

The seat was previously held by Republican Wendy Thomas, who decided not to run for reelection in 2022.  

The 178th Legislative District covers all of Upper Southampton, Warwick, and Wrightstown townships, as well as part of Northampton Township.
